Accessibility statement

LagodiComo.it is built to be used by everyone: with a mouse or a keyboard, with a screen reader, with enlarged text or with reduced motion.

Last updated

Standard

The site follows the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.

Conformance status

The site is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA: almost all content meets the requirements, with the exceptions listed below.

How the site is built

  • Pages in semantic HTML, with headings in order, distinct regions for the header, navigation, content and footer, and the language declared in each of the four versions.
  • A “Skip to content” link at the top of every page, full keyboard navigation and a focus indicator that is always visible.
  • A name screen readers can announce for every button and control, on narrow screens too.
  • Text of at least 12 pixels, and colour contrast of at least 4.5:1 for text and 3:1 for controls and the lines that help you find your way.
  • Pages that reflow down to 320 pixels wide, the equivalent of 400% zoom, with no horizontal scrolling and no text cut off or overlapping.
  • Alternative text for every photograph, in all four languages; the drawn plates that stand in for missing photographs are marked as illustrations.
  • For every interactive map, a list of the same places as text.
  • Animations and the opening film stop when the system asks for reduced motion; the film has no sound.
  • Filters and searches that work as ordinary links, without JavaScript too.

Content not yet accessible

  • The three-dimensional model of the lake, the light simulation and the drawing in “What am I seeing” are visual representations. Their main results are also given as text, such as the hours of sun in each village and the list of visible summits, but exploring the scene freely requires sight.
  • Webcam images come from Windy and carry no description of what they show; the name of each webcam and its place are given beside it.
  • The external sites linked from the site, partner booking sites included, have their own level of accessibility.

How the site was assessed

The assessment is a self-assessment by the site's owner. With every change, automated checks test colour contrast, keyboard focus visibility, the names of controls, and text cut off or overlapping at five screen widths from 320 to 1440 pixels; the main pages are also tested by hand.

Feedback

If you cannot use a piece of content, write to info@lagodicomo.it or use the contact form, giving the page and the problem. Every report receives a reply and, where possible, the content is corrected or provided in another form.

Access to places

Wheelchair access to the lake's sights, piers, stations and tourist offices is set out on The lake without steps.
