Sleeping in Bellagio means staying where the two branches of the lake part, with ferries to every shore in front of the village and Villa Melzi, Punta Spartivento and Pescallo on foot.

And anyone who stops has the village in the early morning and the evening too, after the last boat.

What you gain

  • The village at dawn and after sunset
  • Ferries in every direction from the pier, including the car ferry
  • Punta Spartivento, Villa Melzi and Pescallo all on foot

What you give up

  • No railway: from Milan, combine a train with a ferry or bus
  • Car access to the historic centres is controlled by limited-traffic zones: check the entrance and permit before driving in

Bellagio

Bellagio sits exactly where the two branches part, and it owes its villas and gardens to that position. Behind the arcades, six stepped lanes climb steeply from the shore, with stone walls and workshops, and twenty minutes on foot brings you to Pescallo, a tiny harbour on the other side of the point, on the Lecco branch.
