Palazzo Genazzini stands on the Bellagio lakefront, in Piazza Mazzini, at the foot of the Salita Serbelloni.
The hotel grew out of an inn on the shore, already recorded in 1721: in 1788 Abbondio Genazzini bought it and, after the enlargements of the following decades, it became a proper hotel around 1825. In 1837 Franz Liszt stayed here with Marie d'Agoult. In 1900 the building gained an extra floor, which almost doubled its capacity and gave it its present appearance, while the old harbour in front of the arcades was filled in. After a restoration, the Albergo Genazzini e Metropole reopened on 1 June 2026 as Palazzo Genazzini.
