Lierna
The pale pebble beach of Riva Bianca and a station on the Milan–Lecco–Sondrio–Tirano line.
On the eastern branch the mountains drop steeply to the lake: these are the limestone walls of the Grigne and the Resegone.
The Sentiero del Viandante runs along the hillside along the eastern shore, from Lecco to Sorico, and the railway stops in almost every village. Manzoni set The Betrothed here, in Lecco and the villages around it.
This is the part of the lake for mountain lovers and train travellers. Lecco is a city at the foot of the mountains, on the lakeshore; Mandello has been building motorcycles since 1921; Lierna has the beach of Riva Bianca.
Almost vertical rock walls, dark green water, villages squeezed between the mountain and the shore and, at the far end, the Resegone.
