Lecco Città dei Promessi Sposi
The autumn festival Lecco devotes to Manzoni, around Villa Manzoni: readings, tours, talks and the Camminata Manzoniana walk.
Lecco
The Romanesque church of Chiuso, in Lecco, with fifteenth-century frescoes and the urn of Blessed Serafino Morazzone, the parish priest who inspired one of Manzoni's characters; in the nearby rectory, the museum devoted to him.
The church of San Giovanni Battista, known as Beato Serafino, stands in Chiuso, a district of Lecco associated with Manzoni's literary settings.
Romanesque in origin, it retains fifteenth-century frescoes attributed to Giovan Pietro da Cemmo. A side chapel holds the urn and the chest that contained the remains of Blessed Serafino Morazzone, traditionally remembered as Alessandro Manzoni's confessor. The district is linked to the meeting between the Unnamed and Cardinal Federigo Borromeo in The Betrothed. The nearby former rectory houses the museum of the blessed priest, with documents, objects and lithographs of the novel by Roberto Focosi.
