In spring, camellias, azaleas and rhododendrons flower in the lake's gardens, at different times depending on the species and the year's weather.

Villa Carlotta, in Tremezzina, holds collections of these plants. Hillside walks pass through woods and villages; snow and ice can remain at higher altitudes.

What changes

  • Camellias, azaleas and rhododendrons flower at different times.
  • The Fiumelatte at Varenna usually starts flowing again in spring.
  • Leaves return to the woods on the hillsides.
  • Villa Carlotta and the gardens of Villa Melzi reopen in late March.
