Why go

The Greenway del Lago di Como is a walking route on the western shore, from Colonno to Griante, through villages, olive groves and lakeside sections.

It passes Sala Comacina, Ossuccio, Lenno, Mezzegra and Tremezzo, partly following the old Via Regina. Tarmac, cobbled lanes and steps alternate, with climbs along the hillside and descents to the lake. At Ossuccio it passes Santi Giacomo e Filippo, then continues through Campo and Lenno, climbs to Mezzegra and crosses Bonzanigo. From Bolvedro it follows the lakeshore past Villa Carlotta and Cadenabbia pier to the Griante shore towards Menaggio. The full route takes about three and a half hours and can be walked in sections. The Sacro Monte at Ossuccio and Villa del Balbianello are reached on detours from the Greenway.
