Why go

Nostra Signora della Vittoria is a neo-Romanesque sanctuary in Lecco dedicated to the fallen of the First World War.

Its façade alternates bands of white Valchiavenna stone and black granite; the tall bell tower has a single bell, rung in memory of the fallen. Cardinal Ferrari blessed the foundation stone in 1918 and Cardinal Schuster consecrated the church in 1932. The crypt holds the remains of officers and soldiers. Sixteenth-century works by Fra Gerolamo Codega include the Madonna of Mercy altarpiece and the frescoes in the second chapel on the right.

  • Lecco's sanctuary for the fallen, with the bell dedicated to their memory.
  • The black-and-white banded façade, a few steps from the lakefront.
