The same railway line as Varenna, and a gorge in the middle of the village.
Bellano has a long manufacturing tradition, and its station is on the same Milan–Lecco–Sondrio–Tirano line: Varenna is one train stop away, and the scheduled boat calls at the pier.
In the middle of the village is the Orrido, with its walkways above the water, and two stages of the Sentiero del Viandante start here.

Bellano has the Orrido, a deep ravine you walk through on steel walkways fixed to the rock above the torrent. The village also has a long manufacturing tradition, a square on the lake and a fourteenth-century church banded in white and black.
