The Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni has been a hotel since 1873.
At its heart is the neoclassical villa that the Frizzoni, a family from Bergamo, had built on the shore at Bellagio in the mid-nineteenth century, to a design by the architect Rodolfo Vantini. In 1873 the villa was enlarged and opened as the Grand Hotel Bellagio. From 1905 to 1930 the hotel also owned Villa Serbelloni, the villa on the hill above the village, and took its name. In 1918 it was bought by the Swiss Arturo Bucher, and his family still owns it. Inside are the Salone Reale, lit by bronze and crystal chandeliers, and the Sala Tivano, with high ceilings decorated in period style and tall windows on the lake. Around the hotel is a large garden by the water.
