The Hotel Metropole Suisse has been a hotel since 1892 and stands on Piazza Cavour, Como's main square, which opens onto the lake.
The Cassani family has run it for four generations. The building has a place in the history of architecture: in 1926 and 1927 the young Giuseppe Terragni redesigned the first two floors of its front. It was his first work, before the Novocomum and the Casa del Fascio. A plaque on the front, put up in 2004 for the centenary of the architect's birth, records the work. The hotel has 70 rooms.
