Why go

The Molino Maufet is a watermill and museum at Villatico in Colico, on the old millrace fed by the Fontanedo springs.

The complex includes the pounding mill, where barley and dried chestnuts were processed, and the main mill with its millstones. It belonged to the Augustinians of Gravedona and then the Sciucco family; the last millers were known as the Maufet. Bought by the Bettiga family in 2016 and restored, it retains two rebuilt water wheels, the wooden flume and the millstones in their original arrangement. The lintel bears the initials MA BM and FEB 1826; the façade has a recovered fresco of Saint Christina of Bolsena. Part of the provincial museum system since 2022, it holds objects from milling, farming and domestic life.
