Why go

The Garibaldi monument was unveiled in 1889, for the thirtieth anniversary of liberation, and raised on the spot where the Austrians surrendered after the Five Days of 1848.

It is the work of Vincenzo Vela and shows the hero of two worlds standing, wrapped in his cloak, on a tall stone base with inscriptions, a bronze wreath and a bronze relief with a crowd of figures. The monument stands on Piazza Vittoria, just outside the walls, in front of Porta Torre.
