The Sagra di San Giovanni brings together fireworks, a procession and mass on Isola Comacina.
The tradition dates from the seventeenth century and recalls the burning of the island, destroyed in 1169. The display is watched from the shore, while mass is celebrated among the ruins of Sant'Eufemia.
The programme for the 2026 edition
On Saturday 27 June 2026 there is a food-and-dancing evening in the town park at Ossuccio from 19:00, and at 22:30 the fireworks-and-music show over the island begins, watched from the shore. That evening the Regina road is closed between Argegno and the petrol station at Lenno from 20:00 to midnight; exemptions include motorcycles and residents of Tremezzina, Colonno and Sala Comacina. On Sunday 28 June the procession leaves the church of the Isola hamlet in Ossuccio at 9:30, and a free boat from Campo, in Lenno, takes people to the island for the 11:00 mass among the remains of Sant'Eufemia.
