Why go

The church of Santi Giacomo e Filippo stands on a rocky spur above the lake, along the old Via Regina at Ossuccio.

It probably dates from the eleventh century; its bell gable, a wall with openings for the bells, is later. The building has a single nave and a semicircular apse. The interior lies below the entrance level and retains wall paintings from different periods: Saint Christopher and scenes from the Old and New Testaments belong to the medieval phase. A Virgin and Child, Saint Jerome and Saint James outside, above the former entrance, were added in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries.

  • A medieval painted cycle in a small church on the water, facing Isola Comacina.
  • The cobbled path above the lake, on the old Via Regina.
