Menaggio from above

Menaggio stands on a point of the western shore, opposite Bellagio. The photochrom, printed by Photoglob of Zurich between 1890 and 1900, shows the village from the hillside; the photograph dates from 2020, taken from a viewpoint on the mountain behind the village.

What the two pictures show

The point and the mountains of the upper lake have the same shape. In the photochrom the village is gathered on the point, among woods and meadows; in the photograph houses also cover the slope behind it.
