Morazzone a Como
Morazzone in Como's cathedral, four hundred years after his death.
Como
Sant'Abbondio, consecrated in 1095 outside the walls of Como, is a Romanesque basilica with a nave and four aisles and twin bell towers.
The apse was entirely frescoed in the fourteenth century with scenes from the life of Christ. In the same complex, on Via Regina Teodolinda, stands the eleventh-century church of Santi Cosma e Damiano, perhaps built on the remains of an early Christian basilica whose piers survive in one wall; it is now deconsecrated and hosts art exhibitions.
