Why go

Rezzonico is a village in San Siro on a lakeside headland, with lanes, stairways, arcades and small beaches.

Three defensive gates, two fortified houses probably dating from the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, and seventeenth-century palaces with the Della Torre arms survive in the village. The fourteenth-century castle, probably built by the same family, has a trapezoidal plan, crenellated walls and three towers. A pointed arch leads into the grassy courtyard, while the garden slopes towards the lake. The building is a private home. On Piazza Castello, the church of the Three Kings takes its name from images of the Magi on the altar frontal and above Saint Anthony's niche. Further south, above the Regina road tunnel, stand the tower and walls of the Castellaccio.

  • A walled village on the lake, with its gates, tower houses and castle still standing.
  • The old Via Regina, which leads from here towards Cremia and towards Acquaseria.
