Remains of the castle destroyed in 1555, with walls rebuilt in the 1960s and a serizzo stone gateway bearing the Sormani arms.
The Castello dei Sormani preserves remains of a medieval enclosure, partly rebuilt in the twentieth century, around a meadow outside central Sormano.
The castle of the village's lords was destroyed by Spanish troops in 1555 on Charles V's orders. Its stones were reused in the new parish church and local houses. Swallowtail battlements and a serizzo stone gateway, with the Sormani arms and a plaque, were added in the 1960s. These additions use the same stone as the old walls, making the different building phases difficult to distinguish.
