Why go

Sant'Ambrogio is Sormano's parish church, with an elliptical nave and three chapels on each side.

Rebuilding began in 1677: the structure and roofs were completed in 1715, the decoration in 1762. The façade has two porticoes beside the entrance and a clock above the window. Carlo Inganni worked on the decoration from 1883; Nino Nespoli painted further frescoes in 1935–1936. The chancel retains its balustrades, coloured marble altar and wooden choir stalls in the semicircular apse.

  • An oval Baroque church in the village of the Muro di Sormano.
  • The interior decorated by Carlo Inganni from 1883, with the presbytery and the chapels.
