Why go

Pescallo is Bellagio's little fishing harbour, on the Lecco branch, on the other side of the headland from the centre.

In the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries a convent of Benedictine nuns dedicated to San Biagio stood here. In 1567 the Bishop of Como forbade the six nuns living there to take novices; a few years later, as the Council of Trent required of isolated convents, they were moved into the city, to the convent of San Colombano. It is a twenty-minute walk across the headland from the centre of Bellagio, and around the harbour the boats are hauled out on the shore.

  • The little harbour on the other side of Bellagio's peninsula, on the Lecco branch.
  • The walk crosses the headland's vegetable plots and dry-stone walls.

Getting there

  • Twenty minutes on foot from central Bellagio, with some climbing.
