Why go

San Vittore is Esino Lario's parish church, reached along Michele Vedani's Way of the Cross.

The parish is documented in 1455. The church was enlarged several times: the side aisles date from the late eighteenth century, the bell tower from 1849 and the first bay with the façade from the late nineteenth century. Inside are a wooden architrave carved and gilded in 1654, a late sixteenth-century walnut baptistery and Baroque furnishings attributed to Giovanni Maglia of Esino. There are also canvases by Carlo Pozzo, two tapestries from the Esino school and the eighteenth-century marble altar by Antonio Albinola of Viggiù. The bronze door is by Dino Bonalberti; above it is Michele Vedani's lunette of Saint Victor on horseback.

  • A mountain church on a spur among firs, with the view over the Esino valley.
  • The Baroque carving of a village craftsman.
