Why go

Santa Marta is an oratory beside the parish church of Santi Quirico e Giulitta on Piazza Roma in Lezzeno.

The chancel probably belongs to the earliest phase, perhaps the fourteenth century; the first two bays were added around the mid-sixteenth century. The nave has cross vaults. The chancel stucco is probably seventeenth-century. In 1868 Costantino Lurati painted the Annunciation within an illusionistic architectural setting on the façade. Beside the altar are an Annunciation and a Deposition attributed to Andrea de Passeris.

At the entrance and in the presbytery, two Musso marble plaques bear the carved letters 'C P D S R'.
In the past the oratory was also used as a burial place.

It stands on Piazza Roma at Lezzeno, beside the parish church, on the road between Nesso and Bellagio; ASF Autolinee's C130 Como–Bellagio bus stops at Lezzeno.
