Why go

It is the oldest villa on Via Borgo Vico.

Abbot Marco Gallio, nephew of Cardinal Tolomeo Gallio, had it built in 1615 as a summer residence, on ground where the Museo Gioviano had stood, the building Bishop Paolo Giovio raised in the first half of the sixteenth century for his art collection. It stayed in the family until 1772; today it belongs to the Province of Como. It stands next to Villa Saporiti, and from the gate you see the avenue with its statues and the facade.

  • An early seventeenth-century villa, on the site of Paolo Giovio's museum.
  • Next to the Rotonda, on the way to Villa Olmo.
