Why go

The church of Santi Donato e Clemente stands at Germasino, now part of the comune of Gravedona ed Uniti, and was built between the fifteenth and seventeenth centuries.

Inside are frescoes and canvases of Marian devotion and a polychrome marble altar of 1802. In the porch, the frescoes of the Virgin and Child between Saints Donatus and Clement are attributed to De Magistris, whose name appears in the inscription on the lunette above the doorway (“Sig. De Mag.”). On the segments of the vault the four Doctors of the Western Church are painted on a blue ground.

  • The church has a single barrel-vaulted nave with side chapels and ends in a polygonal apse.
  • The gabled front is framed by pilasters that carry a triangular pediment.
  • The polychrome marble high altar is accompanied by a large wooden crucifix.
