Musso
The nineteenth-century botanical garden on the Sasso di Musso, sheer above the lake, with palms and prickly pears among the rocks, grottoes, little bridges and the church of Sant'Eufemia.
On the Sasso di Musso, on the border with Dongo and at the foot of the ruins of the Medeghino's castle, Giovanni Manzi created a botanical garden in the second half of the nineteenth century, modelled on those of the Ligurian Riviera that drop sheer to the sea. Mediterranean and exotic plants, such as palms, prickly pears and eucalyptus, alternate with alpine ones. Along the path come little bridges, grottoes, the stone buildings Manzi had made and the church of Sant'Eufemia. After the death of the last heir, Giuseppina Manzi, after the war, the park was abandoned and even became a marble quarry. Its recovery ended with the opening of the path in September 2018.
