Museo Barca Lariana

At Pianello del Lario, just south of Musso, the lake's boat museum fills a nineteenth-century silk mill on the shore with more than four hundred historic boats in nineteen sections: rowing boats, gondolas, boats for fishing, hunting and smuggling, pleasure and racing motorboats, sailing boats and the old working barges, with engines, documents and fittings. GianAlberto Zanoletti, a powerboat racer, began the collection as a young man. It became a museum in 1982, stayed closed for eighteen years and reopened in 2018.

• It tells the lake from the point of view of those who went out on it: work, smuggling, holidays, racing.
• The gondola room recalls the days when the Venetian gondola was the luxury of the villas.
