Christmas in the heart of Gravedona ed Uniti
The nativity trail through the whole village, the lakefront lit up and the “1000 luci sul lago” on Christmas Eve, from early December to Epiphany.
Gravedona ed Uniti
The seventeenth-century parish church in the centre of Livo, with its Baroque altars and the altarpiece by Pietro Novelli brought by emigrants back from Sicily: the Immaculate Conception with Saint Rosalia, beside the Death of Saint Joseph and Luigi Tagliaferri's glory of Saint James.
San Giacomo Nuova is the seventeenth-century church in central Livo, which took over as parish church from the old building in 1699.
The single nave has side chapels and Baroque altars. In the first chapel on the left, Pietro Novelli's altarpiece of the Immaculate Conception and Saint Rosalia is an ex-voto from emigrants returning from Sicily. Saint Joseph's chapel holds Luigi Tagliaferri's Death of Saint Joseph; near the side entrance is Andrea Carrera's Annunciation, following Titian's model. The polychrome marble high altar of 1734 holds a polychrome wooden statue of Saint James, patron of both churches. Tagliaferri also painted two scenes from Christ's life and the Glory of Saint James on the choir vault.
