How it works

The Tre Pievi, Gravedona, Dongo and Sorico, were a self-governing territory for centuries, and the area keeps many Romanesque churches: Santa Maria del Tiglio at Gravedona and, beside it, San Vincenzo; Santa Maria in Martinico at Dongo; Piona abbey on the Olgiasca peninsula. The circuit takes half a day by car.

  1. Suggested order from the south: Dongo, with Santa Maria in Martinico, then Gravedona, with Santa Maria del Tiglio and San Vincenzo, then across to Piona.
  2. Allow time for travelling between the churches as well as for the visits.
