Why go

San Pancrazio is a shrine outside Ramponio, with a stone church on a plateau.

Its earliest core probably dates from the first half of the eleventh century: the Romanesque bell tower and the apse, incorporated into the left side chapel, survive. Between the late fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, the church was rebuilt on an axis perpendicular to the earlier one. The apse holds a Crucifixion with saints dated 1543, a Pietà with four saints dated 1551 and an enthroned Virgin traditionally attributed to a painter of the Solari family from Verna. The three-arched porch before the façade was added in the seventeenth century.

  • An eleventh-century bell tower and apse in a church rebuilt in the late fourteenth century, in the upper Val d'Intelvi.
  • The sixteenth-century frescoes in the apse and the scenes of the Virgin in the lunettes.
