Why go

Sant'Andrea is Brunate's parish church.

It is recorded from the fourteenth century, like the monastery that stood beside it and is gone today.

Between the late sixteenth century and the mid-seventeenth it was entrusted to the Franciscan tertiaries. Rebuilt in the nineteenth century, it was enlarged for the last time between 1914 and 1927, and since then has had two facades. Inside are frescoes painted at the end of the seventeenth century by the Recchi, a family of painters from Como: in the vault the patron saints Andrew and Maurice, in the medallions Saint Ignatius of Loyola, Saint Michael the Archangel, Saint Bartholomew and the Blessed Maddalena Albrici.

  • It is three minutes on foot from the funicular: you see it as you pass.
  • The vaults painted by the Recchi, in a village church over seven hundred metres up, above Como.
