Why go

The sanctuary stands at Livo, a small mountain comune above the Pian dei Gorghi, and is also known as the Sanctuary of Mezza Cresta or of Sant'Anna: every 26 July the saint's feast is held here.

It was built in the seventeenth century, in the baroque style, because the people of Livo wanted a worthier home for an image of the Madonna and Child held to be miraculous, frescoed in an old wayside chapel. For more than a century it has drawn pilgrims from the upper Lario. Inside is an eighteenth-century organ by Andrea Albiolo.
