Why go

Villa Camilla is Domaso's town hall, in a residence of seventeenth-century origin on the lakefront.

Built for the Ghezzi, it was enlarged by Filippo Antonio Calderara. Giuseppe Sebregondi bought it in 1903 and named it after his wife Camilla Barbiano di Belgioioso. His children sold it to the municipality in 1955. The two-storey building has eighteenth-century gates and a granite portal beneath a stone balcony. Its park of about eight thousand square metres contains artificial tufa grottoes, camellias, cedars, sequoias and other trees.

  • In the room overlooking the garden runs a frieze with the coats of arms of families linked to the villa's owners.
  • The ground floor has a large entrance hall and several rooms decorated in neoclassical style.
  • To the north stand buildings that once belonged to the estate: a farmhouse with a wine press, the cellar and the ice house.
