Fiera dei Morti
On 1 and 2 November the centre of Sorico fills with stalls, with the livestock area that tradition requires.
Sorico
The church of San Miro holds the hermit's tomb on the slope above Sorico.
Romanesque in origin, probably twelfth-century, it is recorded from 1286 and was initially dedicated to San Michele.
Miro was born in Canzo in 1345, died at Sorico in 1381 and was buried here. The discovery of his body in 1452 began a period of extension and decoration, followed by reconsecration in 1456. The right aisle preserves fourteenth-century frescoes. Painted Madonnas, a Crucifixion and a Saint Sebastian date from the fifteenth-century renewal; in 1526 Sigismondo De Magistris painted the cycle of Saint Anthony. Legend tells of Miro reaching Sorico across the lake on his cloak.
