Why go

Villa Giulia is a neoclassical villa on the Bellagio peninsula, with two façades facing the lake's two branches.

Count Pietro Venini had it built at the end of the eighteenth century and completed it in 1806, naming it after his wife Giulia. He had the surrounding land levelled to open views on both sides. A stone staircase, known as the scalotta, climbs from the Loppia boathouses. Two formal Italian gardens flank the three-storey building; the park's former orchard became an olive grove. The villa also belonged to Leopold I of Belgium and served as a hotel for several years.
