Why go

Villa La Collina is the house built in 1899 above Cadenabbia where Konrad Adenauer spent fifteen holidays from 1959 to 1966.

He stayed in Cadenabbia eighteen times in all, beginning in 1957 on the advice of Foreign Minister Heinrich von Brentano. Even on holiday the chancellor worked here and received political and business figures. In 1977 the Konrad Adenauer Foundation bought the villa and its 2.7-hectare park. In the early 1990s it added the Accademia Konrad Adenauer conference centre. An eight-stop historical walk through the park presents period photographs and content accessed through QR codes.

  • Adenauer's holiday home, from which the chancellor went on governing.
  • A historical walk of eight stations in the park, with period photographs at the original spots.
