A private villa built like a castle by the Coppedè brothers on the Gaeta point at Acquaseria: two towers, graffito and frescoes above the lake, seen from outside or from the water.
Villa La Gaeta stands on the point that gives it its name, at Acquaseria.
It grew out of a humbler building bought in the nineteenth century by Solone Ambrosoli, scholar, historian, numismatist and man of letters.
The design is by the brothers Gino and Adolfo Coppedè, who also drew the interiors and reworked the medieval and Renaissance castle with Art Nouveau touches. The villa is built round two towers, one sheer above the lake and the other facing the hill; on the walls bare materials alternate with plaster that is frescoed or decorated in graffito. Ambrosoli's heirs completed it in 1921; in 1940 it passed to the Counts Gerli, and in 2006 scenes of Casino Royale were filmed there. Since a restoration in 2011 it has been divided into private flats, and the park cannot be visited.
