Why go

The parish church of Santi Pietro e Paolo is the mother church of Dervio's former parish district, in the Borgo quarter near the lake.

It dates from the eleventh century; an earlier church is thought to date from the sixth, on a pre-Christian place of worship. The Romanesque plan has a nave, two aisles and a semicircular apse. The vaults, decoration and façade were rebuilt from the early seventeenth century. The Madonna del Rosario altar was restored around 1653, with a black marble font and confessional. The high altar is attributed to Giovanni Scotti and Luigi Comolli. Seventeenth-century Cavagna canvases flank the chancel; the pulpit is carved and gilded wood. The bell tower has a Romanesque shaft and nineteenth-century belfry.
