Why go

The Madonna del Ghisallo Cycling Museum holds bicycles, jerseys and memorabilia on the pass at Magreglio, beside the sanctuary of the cyclists' patron saint.

Opened in 2006 at Fiorenzo Magni's initiative, it occupies a low, glazed building facing the Triangolo Lariano mountains. Collections include Giro d'Italia pink jerseys, archive photographs and displays tracing the evolution of racing and everyday bicycles. The central showcase holds bicycles ridden by Bartali, Coppi and Magni; a section on the hour record includes machines from Coppi and Moser. The displays also cover military bicycles, workshop tools and para-cycling. The museum and sanctuary are separate places standing beside each other on the same pass.

  • It is the cycling museum on the pass the Giro di Lombardia so often climbs.
  • It goes with the chapel next door, where champions left their bicycles as votive offerings.
