Why go

San Michele Arcangelo is Colonno's parish church.

It looks neoclassical but has Romanesque origins: it stands where an oratory once was, of which traces remain in the bell tower, and in a room behind the high altar fragments of fifteenth-century frescoes can still be seen. Today's building dates from 1877, when the previous church was pulled down and rebuilt; when the work was done Luigi Morgari decorated it. In 1894 the parish also had an oratory of Saints Roch and Rose, known in the century before as San Rocco sul Monte. Colonno keeps a stretch of the old Via Regina, with two stone bridges over the Camoggia and Pessetta streams and a bridge-house, walked along the Greenway del Lago di Como.
