Why go

Sant'Agata is a Romanesque church on the old Via Regina at Vergonzago, a hamlet of Moltrasio.

The first building and bell tower probably date from the second half of the eleventh century; the church is documented from 1215. An extension gave the interior a nave, one aisle and two apses. Restoration in 2006 uncovered medieval fragments on the vault and, in the smaller apse, a sixteenth-century Christ in a mandorla between Saints Roch and Anthony Abbot, attributed to Giovanni Andrea De Magistris. A Renaissance wooden crucifix hangs above an altar.

  • A Romanesque church on the old road of the western shore.
  • The thirteenth-century Saint Christopher and the five-stage bell tower.
