Why go

Santi Ambrogio e Bernardo is the parish church in upper Limonta, with a stone portico before its façade.

Probably early medieval in origin, it was rebuilt between 1663 and 1673. The Saint Anthony chapel belongs to the same phase; the Immaculate Conception chapel was completed in 1680. The portico dates from 1714. Behind the altar is a late fifteenth-century polyptych attributed to Felice Scotti's workshop, showing the Crucifixion with saints. A painted wooden beam supports the Crucifix with angels and symbols of the Passion. Stucco and paintings decorate the chancel.

  • The church of the village that for more than nine centuries belonged to Milan's monastery of Sant'Ambrogio.
  • The Crucifixion polyptych and the chancel's stucco decoration.
