Why go

Sant'Ambrogio is Lierna's parish church, standing on a rise in the village centre.

Its Romanesque bell tower dates from the first half of the eleventh century and is set slightly at an angle to the church.

The building was rebuilt in 1626–1627 and enlarged in late Baroque style between 1778 and 1785. Inside are Gian Battista Macolino's Rosary canvas of 1628 and a painting of Saint Anthony by an unknown artist. A little further south is the cemetery, remodelled in 1922 by Giannino Castiglioni, with chapels and decoration by the sculptor.

  • An eleventh-century Romanesque bell tower rising over the village.
  • Gian Battista Macolino's Rosary canvas and, beside the church, Luigi Tagliaferri's Way of the Cross chapels.
