Why go

The Museo Giannino Castiglioni links the sculptor's plaster models with works he made in Lierna, where he lived and worked.

His heirs donated the preparatory models to the municipality in 2003; the museum was established in 2015. A restored selection is displayed in the town hall and Casa delle Associazioni, including studies for the Lecco war memorial and the Stations of the Cross at the Caporetto war shrine. The route also takes in works in the cemetery, remodelled by Castiglioni in 1922, and the fountain in Piazza IV Novembre. His Via Roma studio, used from 1927 until his death in 1971, is privately owned.

  • The sculptor of Lecco's war memorial and of a door of Milan Cathedral, in the village where he lived and lies.
  • Plaster models displayed indoors and sculptures around the village.

Highlights

Getting there

  • The plaster models are in the town hall, Via Parodi 33, and in the Casa delle Associazioni; the cemetery with Castiglioni's tombs is on Via Papa Giovanni XXIII, a little south of the church of Sant'Ambrogio.
