Why go

In the 1970s, digging for the elevated car park on Viale Lecco uncovered the southern part of a large Roman bath complex.

There are rectangular rooms, probably the frigidaria, the cold baths, alternating with octagonal ones, the calidaria, the hot baths. The baths date from the second half of the first century AD and cover about 1,500 square metres. Today you cross them on raised walkways under the car park's deck, and two small rooms show a selection of the finds. The Touring Club Italiano's volunteers open them, through its Aperti per Voi project.
