Why go

Villa Geno is a Neoclassical house on the point at the end of Viale Geno, on the eastern shore of the first basin.

The public park includes the fountain in the lake, built between 1948 and 1951 to a design by Renato Uslenghi. In the nineteenth century the Marchesi Cornaggia Medici had the villa rebuilt by Giacomo Tazzini; ownership passed to the Comune of Como in 1911. The façade facing the lake retains its late Neoclassical forms, altered by later work. The lakeside promenade leads to the point, the park and the lido.

  • The green point where Viale Geno ends, with the fountain shooting up from the lake.
  • In summer the lido, one of the town's two, with a beach and pools.

Getting there

  • It is at the end of Viale Geno, on the east shore of the first basin, about a kilometre's walk along the lake from the lower station of the Brunate funicular; the lido is at Viale Geno 13.
