Christmas in the heart of Gravedona ed Uniti
The nativity trail through the whole village, the lakefront lit up and the “1000 luci sul lago” on Christmas Eve, from early December to Epiphany.
Dongo
Dongo's parish church on the lakeshore, at the end of a cypress avenue, with a single baroque nave painted in the eighteenth century.
Santo Stefano stands on the lakeshore, just before the Gere beach.
The baroque interior has a single great vaulted nave, a high altar and four frescoed side altars.
Nearly all the decoration is eighteenth-century, by painters such as Carlo Scotti, Fra Gerolamo Cotica, Giulio Quaglio and Giovanni Antonio Torricelli. Later Luigi Tagliaferri, the painter from Pagnona who worked in the lake's churches in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, also painted here. The niches along the walls hold stucco statues by Stefano Salterio, and there is a Serassi organ of 1856. The roof is covered with stone slabs from the Valmalenco; the bell tower, on the south side, is eighteenth-century, with small arches and pilasters echoing the facade.
