Why go

Near the Chiesa Rotta lido, looking out over the lake, are the old cloister and some remains of the former church.

The “broken church” is San Lorenzo a Ripa, the church on the shore that became Abbadia's parish church when the village got a parish of its own, at the end of the fifteenth century. The deed of 26 June 1495 also entrusted it with San Martino di Borbino and San Bartolomeo del Castello, which were run from here from then on. Today's parish church, on the lakefront, is the former church of the Servite friars: the parish took it over in 1788 and dedicated it to San Lorenzo. Around the remains is now the Chiesa Rotta park, a wide green space that runs down to a small, easily reached beach.
