Why go

San Lorenzo is Abbadia's parish church on the lakefront, on the site of the monastery that gave the village its name.

Formerly dedicated to Saints Vincent and Anastasius and linked to the Servites, the church passed to the parish in 1788. Giovanni Maria Stoppani enlarged it in 1888, adding two aisles. Luigi Tagliaferri painted the interior in 1915: the vault shows Saint Lawrence among angels, the apse the Glory of the Lamb from the Apocalypse. A seventeenth-century wooden altar and two canvases of the same period on devotion to Saint Augustine survive.
