The Schignano carnival, in the Valle Intelvi, is held in the days of the Roman-rite Carnival.

The procession is led by the Sapeur, faces blackened, with long moustaches, sheepskin clothes and gourd flasks; then come the Mascarun, also called Bèi, with wooden masks and colourful clothes that display wealth, and the Brut, dressed in rags, close it. On Shrove Tuesday the Carlisep, the Carnival effigy, is burned.
